I graduated from The Ohio State University with my bachelor's in nursing degree and moved to North Carolina in 2005 and started working for Duke Health. I obtained my master's in nursing administration from UNCG in 2016. Much of my nursing career has been in community based and acute care hospital-based Case Management and Utilization review. I enjoy helping people navigate the healthcare system and serving as an advocate for patients and their loved ones.
I was born and raised in East TN (give it time, you’ll hear the accent!) I am, by nature, someone who wants to help and heal, so nursing came as a very natural career path. I have ten years of experience with a background in medical surgical and cardiac acute care nursing. This will be the first time in my career that I will be outside of an acute care facility, and I am so excited to begin this journey into healthcare quality improvement.
I have been working in the mental health field for the past 13 years. Most of my experience is in the inpatient hospital setting, but I have also worked in the ER, in community programs, and as a program manager for adults with co-occurring illnesses. I am very passionate about helping others and look for every opportunity to expand my skill set.
I have been a clinical nurse for a little over four years now. Prior to joining Duke, my primary unit was in the cardiac ICU. I recently graduated with my Master’s Degree in Nursing and am very excited to educate and advocate for others. Two of my favorite aspects of the work I do include helping others through showing them compassion and sharing my passion for caring for others with colleagues.
I am originally from Canada but have resided in North Carolina most of my adult life. I have a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, and throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse population of patients. Most of my nursing journey has been caring for critically ill patients in a large local hospital. I have also worked with patients who suffer from chronic wounds. My last role was as an inpatient Case Manager, which helped position me for this role with DukeWELL. My passion is assisting patients and families in navigating the healthcare system by providing the knowledge and resources they need to improve their lives. I am excited to be part of this team and will strive to make a positive impact to those I serve.
I have been employed in the Duke system for 16 years. I have worked in hospital case management/discharge planning for 20 years. I obtained my MSW from USC and worked in SC for several years. I was fortunate enough to be able to move back to NC to be closer to my family. I enjoy working with patients and their families to obtain needed resources and improve their health.
I am a North Carolina native—born and raised in Rocky Mount. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the illustrious North Carolina Central University (EAGLE PRIDE!!) in 2007. However, I have been in the healthcare field for over 22 years. I later received a Masters in Health Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Change from Pfeiffer University. I began my nursing career in the ICU at Durham Regional Hospital and gradually transitioned into the mental health/substance abuse sector where I have spent the bulk of my career. I have had the privilege of serving a diverse population—latency-age children, DJJ-involved adolescents, adults, and veterans—in various community based, residential, and inpatient care settings. I have held many administrative, management, and leadership roles; however, my passion lies in working closely with consumers to ensure that they have access to treatment and the appropriate resources which will aid them in maintaining their highest state of wellness.
I am from the Windy City—Chicago, IL. I completed my BSN at Metropolitan State University in Minnesota where I resided for 21 years. I have been a resident of NC for 8 years. I have been a nurse for 25 years. I am currently in school to receive my Doctorate in Nursing as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I love serving as a nurse!
I have more than 6 years of nursing experience in various health care settings. I love working with patients to provide excellent patient-centered, holistic care while helping them reach their goals. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and listening to music.
I lived in Nashville, TN until 2016 when we moved to Apex, NC. I have been a Case Manager at Duke since 2016. The majority of my nursing and case management career has centered around Pediatrics, primarily Pediatric Cardiology. As an inpatient Case Manager, I loved working with families and children to assist in a smooth hospital discharge and identifying resources in the community. I am excited to work with DukeWELL and continue to provide support to patients/families in the community.
